David Moyes heaps praise on Mohammed Kudus, as his first goal for West Ham, helped to beat Backa Topola in a comeback victory.
West Ham who won the 2023 Europa Conference League were given a taste of the challenge in the Europa League as they fell behind in the 47 minute of the game.
However, the first goal of the Ghanaian international who joined the London club from Ajax this summer helped to grab all the maximum points in their Group stage opener.
Kudus was involved with the equalizer as he forced Nemanja Petrovic to howler Said Benrahma’s cross into his own net.
Exhibiting tactical brilliance, Kudus had his goal by nodding in James Ward-Prowse’s corner through a crowd of Backa Topola players into the far post.
West Ham ensured a surprise-free end to the game as substitute Tomas Soucek headed in another Ward-Prowse corner eight minutes from full-time.
With such a performance, West Ham manager David Moyes did not hesitate to heap praise on their summer addition.
David Moyes to TNT Sports: “I was really pleased because he scored a couple of goals for Ajax as well before he joined us.
Moyes describing the importance of the goals: I think for him to get another goal tonight was really important for us.
“We needed it at the time, we needed a goal to come from somewhere.
“He’s started the game very brightly, it faded away a little bit but him getting the goal was really important because we were struggling to find any other goalscorers tonight.
