Pochettino on Mudryk & Chelsea’s much-needed win over Fulham

Chelsea manager Pochettino gives his assessment on Chelsea’s much-needed win over Fulham last Monday

Mykhailo Mudryk’s first Chelsea goal and a strike from Armando Broja saw them grab a much-needed win vs Fulham, making it their second PL win this season.

Since signing for £89m in January from Shakhtar Donetsk, Mudryk has had a mixed time at Chelsea but his promising first-half performance could be a turning point in his Chelsea career.

Mudryk gave Chelsea the lead in the 18th minute as he calmly controlled Levi Colwill’s chipped cross with his chest before finishing past Leno

Broja then doubled the lead a minute later, to record his first goal since October 2022 after a serious knee injury.

Pochettino on Mykhailo Mudryk’s first goal for the club: “It’s very important for offence players to score a goal.

He was doing well. He was unlucky at half-time, he felt something in his quad but hopefully, it’s not a big issue and he will be ready for the weekend.

I’m so happy for both [the goalscorers].

“In any team when you have issues [injuries] like we have the results can be affected and we tried to not use that as an excuse. It is an amazing squad and very talented.”

Armando Broja on what the win does for the squad: “Wins bring that confidence and positivity, among the group, among the fans, around the club.

“So it is important to win, and to do so as much as you can, and to play well on top adds to that massive positivity.

“We just need to keep going in this way and hopefully more wins will follow.”
