The UEFA Champions League is a seasonal European football competition inaugurated in 1955, up until the 1992–93 season, the competition was named the European Cup.

In all, a total of 22 clubs have emerged winners of the Champions League/European Cup. Real Madrid hold the record for the most trophies, 13, and also the first club to win consecutive trophies, winning five straight European Cup from 1956 to 1960. AC Milan are second with 7 trophies, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are next with 6 trophies each, with FC Barcelona having 5 trophies to their name.

Five clubs have been to the finals without a defeat, among them only Nottingham Forest (in 1979 and 1980) and FC Porto (in 1987and 2004) repeated these feet twice.

On the flipped side, twenty clubs have never won a final, Atlético Madrid have reached three finals without winning the trophy also Reims and Valencia have appeared in two finals each without a win. No club has lost more finals than Juventus, losing seven finals out of nine.

Real Madrid became the first club to win the competition (European Cup) in 1955, French club Marseille were the first side to win the competition in the Champions League era (1993), The current champions are Chelsea, who defeated Manchester City 1–0 in an all English 2021 finals.
