Mikel Arteta’s reaction as Arsenal overcame Spanish side Sevilla in their third UCL group game by two goals to one.
Mikel Arteta speaking to TNT Sports: “I’m very happy to win here.
“There are not many teams who have won here in the last ten years in Europe and we’ve done it.
“I really liked the team, especially the first 60, 65 minutes because we played the game we wanted. After we went 2-0 up we should have scored a third one and we had openings to score it and we didn’t.
“In one corner, the first action where they had something they scored and from there, they have experience, they have a lot of people and a lot of belief they can get in the game.”
Mikel Arteta on Gabriel Jesus performance: “You need magic moments in these games and you need the big players to step in and create those moments.”
Mikel Arteta on the growth of the team: “It’s about experiences and learning from those experiences and when you lose you learn much more than when you win.
Arteta added: It was a very different team that we were playing against Lens, we had moments where we were dominant.”
In the first half, Gabriel Jesus cut open Sevilla’s defence, providing a through pass for Gabriel Martinelli in Arsenal’s opener.
Gabriel Jesus again doubled Arsenal’s lead in the second half ensuring a victory for the Gunners.
“It’s a competition that I love,” Gabriel Jesus said.
“All the competitions I love, because I just love to play football. But I don’t know, since day one in the Champions League, my debut, I scored goals.
He added: “I haven’t won it yet, so I am looking for this, for this beautiful trophy. Obviously, it is not easy, but I think we have to believe. If we don’t believe, we cannot be here.”
